Research Competition Terms & Conditions

1. THE PROMOTER

1.1. This competition is run by Informa Exhibition, a trading division of Informa UK Limited, trading at Level 20, Dubai World Trade Centre, Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai, United Arab Emirates (the “Promoter”).

2. THE COMPETITION

2.1. The title of the competition is ME-OTO Research Competition.

2.2. ME-OTO with the Middle East Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is awarding 20 winners with a prize to win free conference registration and to present their research abstract within the ME-OTO conference as a speaker. In addition, the top 5 abstracts will be presented with a plaque award. (the “Prize”). The winners will be chosen by the abstract judging committee. (the “Winner”).

2.3. Competition summary. Participants shall submit an abstract to Informa. These shall be reviewed by Informa who shall inform participants whether their abstracts have been accepted. If accepted, participants shall submit their posters for review. The top 20 candidates will be selected, and participants shall then have to present their posters at ME-OTO on 28 April 2019. Five winners shall be selected and announced on 28 April 2019 at ME-OTO and shall be rewarded with a plaque award.

3. HOW TO ENTER

3.1. To enter the Competition, participants must access the URL: https://www.me-oto.com/en/forms/research-competition.html and follow the instructions set out therein to fill out and submit online the poster abstract submission form and the poster abstract

3.2. All entries must be received by the Promoter at https://www.me-oto.com/en/forms/research-competition.html by 28th February 2019. All entries received after the Closing Date are automatically disqualified.

3.3. To enter, submit a completed entry form, which can be found on https://www.me-oto.com/en/forms/research-competition.html by the Closing Date.

3.4. No purchase necessary and there is no charge to use the website.

3.5. The Promoter will not accept:

3.5.1. responsibility for entries that are lost, mislaid, damaged or delayed in transit, regardless of cause, including, for example, as a result of any postal failure, equipment failure, technical malfunction, systems, satellite, network, server, computer hardware or software failure of any kind; or

3.5.2. proof of transmission as proof of receipt of entry.

3.6. By submitting an entry, you are agreeing to be bound by these terms and conditions and any relevant terms found on the entry website.

3.8. The entries will be judged by Dr Talal Al-Khatib, Vice Dean of Medicine, Ibn Sina National College, Consultant Paediatric Otolaryngologist, Associate Professor, Department of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, Faculty of Medicine, King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, KSA and Dr. Rawan Arif, Teaching Assistant, Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Masters in Epidemiology, King AbdulAziz University, Jeddah, KSA (“Judges”) based on

(a) the application of the solution;

(b) showing of substantial evidence of the nature of the problem;

(c) the method(s) used to reach a viable solution; and

(d) a solid explanation of that solution.

The decision of the Judges (acting reasonably) will be final.

4. ELIGIBILITY

4.1. In order to be eligible to participate in the competition, entrants and nominees must:

4.1.1. be over the age of 18;

4.1.2. not be an employee of the Promoter, its subsidiary and holding companies, their agents or any other person who is directly connected with the creation and operation of the competition or their immediate family; and

4.1.3. is not located in a sanctioned or embargoed country according to the International Trade Sanctions, or on an SDN/SSI list as updated from time to time.

4.2. In entering the competition, you confirm that you are eligible to do so and eligible to claim the prize. The Promoter may require you to provide proof that you are eligible to enter the competition.

4.3. The Promoter will not accept entries that are incomplete.

4.4. There is a limit of one entry per person.

The Promoter reserves all rights to refuse your entry if your conduct is contrary to the spirit or intention of the competition.

5. THE PRIZE

5.1. The prize is free conference registration, and the opportunity to present as a speaker within ME-OTO for 20. Awarding a plaque medal to the top 5 abstract competitors.

5.2. The prize is not negotiable or transferable.

5.3. The winners will be contacted by the Promoter, up to 30 days after the Closing Date using the email address provided on the entry form. The Promoter will not amend any contact information once the entry form has been submitted.

5.4. In order to claim their prize, the winner must respond to the Promoter’s email and consent the Promoter using their name, image and town or country or residence to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.

5.5. If we do not receive a response by the winner of the prize within 14 days, their claim will become invalid.

5.6. The prize cannot be claimed by a third party on behalf of the winner.

5.7. The Promoter will make all reasonable efforts to contact the winner. If the winner cannot be contacted or is not available, or has not claimed their prize within 30 of days the Promoter notifying the winner of their win, the Promoter reserves the right to offer the prize to the next eligible entrant selected from the valid entries that were received before the Closing Date.

5.8. The Promoter does not accept any responsibility if the winner is unable to take up the prize.

6. WINNER ANNOUNCEMENT

6.1. The decision of the Judges nominated by the Promoter is final and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into.

7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

7.1. Insofar as is permitted by law, the Promoter, nor its parent, subsidiary, affiliated and/or related companies, or any of its or their shareholders, directors, officers, agents, employees, contractors or distributors shall be liable in any circumstances be responsible or liable to compensate the entrant or winner, or accept any liability for any loss, damage, personal injury or death occurring as a result of entering the competition or taking up the prize. Nothing in these terms and conditions shall exclude or restrict the Promoter’s liability for death or injury resulting from the negligence of the Promoter, or fraud and/or fraudulent misrepresentation. Your statutory rights are not affected.

8. DATA PROTECTION AND PUBLICITY

8.1. The Promoter’s privacy policy, which is available at https://www.informaexhibitions.com/en/privacy-policy.html and incorporated into this Agreement by reference, explains how the Promoter collects, uses and protects personal information. The privacy policy, as updated from time to time, applies to any personal information that the participant provides to the Promoter under this Agreement.

8.2. The winner of the competition must consent to the Promoter using their name, image and town or country of residence to announce the winner of this competition and for any other reasonable and related promotional purposes.

8.3. By entering this competition, you agree that any personal information provided by you with the competition may be held and used only by the Promoter and its affiliates to administer the competition.

9. GENERAL

9.1. If there is any reason to believe that there has been a breach of these terms and conditions, the Promoter may, at its sole discretion, reserve the right to exclude you from this competition.

9.2. The Promoter reserves the right to hold void, suspend, cancel, or amend the prize competition where it becomes necessary to do so.

9.3. You acknowledge and agree that by entering this competition, you will comply with all applicable laws and regulations including, without limitation, the Bribery Act 2010.

9.4. These terms and conditions shall be governed by English law, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
